Cornerstone Access Control

Improve security and reduce administrative overheads with biometrically-enabled access control

Cornerstone Access Control is a robust and reliable access management solution that increases visibility and control of people’s whereabouts. Using biometrics, security managers can significantly improve site security and movement within restricted areas.

A perfect fit for high risk environments

Like all modules from the Cornerstone suite, Access Control is ideal for medium to high risk facilities, such as defence, immigration or corrections, where accurate identification is essential.

Flexible to requirements

Most organisations only need biometrics for certain areas e.g. server rooms. Access Control gives you the choice of a card or biometric device for each restricted area, keeping hardware costs to a minimum.

The system uses three different device groups to control how and when users gain access. The ‘Time Group’ dictates when a person has access, whereas the ‘Device Group’ says where and how they gain access e.g. via an iris camera or through a card-based system. The ‘Enrolment Group’ reconciles groups of people with the time and device groups to create permissions for groups of users.

More than one enrolment group can be created for each role, so that staff in the same position can access areas at different times. This is particularly useful for shift or contract workers, or people with more than one job role.

Fast and simple to use

The system’s intuitive interface ensures easy enrolment of individuals, so that new users are processed with minimum effort. Likewise, biometric devices require little interaction with the user and are straightforward to operate. Often users are processed within seconds, preventing long queues of staff and other personnel.

Improved efficiency with automated processing

Biometric-based Access Control saves time on manual processes, such as re-registering or logging out site visitors. All records are immediately updated each time a person engages with a biometric device, cutting down the time associated with manual record updates and ensuring improved accuracy of information.

Extend Access Control’s capabilities with other modules from Cornerstone

Access Control seamlessly integrates with all modules from the Cornerstone suite, including Time Capture, Visitor Management and Asset Management. It also offers full integration with our key management solution, CornerSafe. For example, when used with Asset Management, Access Control can be used to prevent people leaving a site without first returning critical assets like fire arms, keys or dangerous substances.

Smaller organisations may also be interested in IrisAccess® SoHo from Iris ID. An iris recognition access control solution designed for facilities with less complex requirements.
